I have spent the last eleven years working for an FDA Regulated Multinational Medical Device and  Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Corporation as a Customs Specialist where I am currently at Principal Customs and Trade Compliance Specialist level

I brought Customs Brokerage and Compliance into our business where we are completely independent of Customs Brokers. It is extremely rare to see a Manufacturing Company take ownership for all of their customs activities, in particular, Brokerage. This level of control has allowed me to introduce multiple successful and highly beneficial Customs Processes and Economic Procedures into our Supply Chain and Business in general.

It has resulted in a very strong relationship with mutual respect with Senior Customs Officials in Ireland

My Customs Trade Compliance knowledge and experience from not only the Customs Brokerage and Consultants viewpoint but also more importantly from the manufacturers viewpoint is something that I feel passionate about sharing. While Customs Brokers and Customs Consultants have their own traditional and unique skill sets, they do not have the detailed insight into how Customs Trade Compliance operates at it's optimum efficiency inside a dynamic and complicated Multinational Manufacturing and Supply Chain environment

Customs Officials reacted very positively to this move as it demonstrated our commitment to our Customs Trade Compliance activities.

There is a high dependence on Customs Brokers and Consultants to provide Customs Compliance and Brokerage services. My objective with the various courses I will upload to Udemy over the coming months, is to give students enough knowledge to either introduce or enhance a Customs Compliance function within your organisation or for Customs Brokers to widen their knowledge of Customs Trade Compliance from a manufacturers viewpoint allowing you to offer an enhanced offering to your customers.

I have had the good fortune of dealing with a very senior Customs Officer for many years who has pushed me to develop the highest standards in Customs Compliance. Customs Programs that I have developed include

4. Full AEO Certification

5. Comprehensive Guarantee Waiver Authorization

   (one of the first in Ireland to receive this)

6. EIDR Full Customs Clearance Waiver Authorization

    ( the first company in Ireland and one of the first in Europe

     to receive this)

7. Set up and developed an  in house Customs Brokerage

    facility to self declare all our shipments. We are one of

    only two Manufacturing Companies in Ireland to do this

    currently

8. I have been through many Customs Audits with complete

    success.

9.  Currently looking at Centralized Clearance (SASP)

10. Set up in house Customs Brokerage facility in our UK

      facility via the CHIEF Customs system

11. Export Simplified Authorizations for ATR-1, Supplier

      Declaration, Certificates of Origin
