İlyas Gülenç is a sustainability reporting consultant, trainer, and founder of Ekostrateji Sustainability & Advisory. He provides consultancy and training services on ESG strategy, sustainability reporting, sustainable finance, climate-related disclosures, and IFRS-aligned sustainability reporting for companies, financial institutions, SMEs, auditors, and professional teams.

He currently works as Vice President of Sustainability Reporting at Ekostrateji Training and Consultancy, where he supports organizations in developing ESG strategies, implementing sustainability reporting processes, preparing sustainability-related disclosures, and designing training content for sustainable finance and corporate reporting. Before founding and developing his current consultancy practice, he worked as Director at Yeşil Büyüme Training and Consultancy, focusing on ESG implementation, ESG reporting, and sustainable finance training for large companies and financial services firms.

İlyas has practical experience in preparing sustainability reports aligned with IFRS S1, IFRS S2, Turkish Sustainability Reporting Standards, GRI Standards, and other international sustainability reporting frameworks. He has supported and led reporting projects in different sectors, including mining, steel, fertilizer, insurance, real estate, defence technologies, and industrial companies. His project experience includes sustainability reporting, climate risk and opportunity assessment, transition risk analysis, carbon emissions disclosure, sustainability governance design, risk management processes, scenario analysis frameworks, and the integration of climate-related financial disclosures into corporate reporting.

One of his main areas of expertise is IFRS S1 and IFRS S2 Sustainability Disclosure Standards. He has delivered extensive training on these standards to independent auditors, sustainability professionals, corporate reporting teams, and exam candidates. In 2024, he provided 16 hours of training to independent auditors preparing for the Public Oversight Authority exam related to assurance audits under the Turkish Sustainability Reporting Standards. He has also delivered trainings through TÜRMOB-accredited sustainability reporting education programs and has helped professionals understand the practical application of IFRS S1 and IFRS S2 in corporate reporting.

His professional training background covers a wide range of sustainability and climate-related topics, including the EU Green Deal, Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, Emission Trading Systems, Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, GRI reporting, SASB Standards, ESRS, sustainable finance, green bonds, organizational carbon accounting, climate risk management, and sustainability governance. He has delivered trainings and presentations for organizations such as chambers of industry, development agencies, universities, exporters’ associations, industrial companies, automotive sector stakeholders, and public-sector institutions.

İlyas also has a multidisciplinary educational background. He studied Electrical and Electronic Engineering at the Turkish Naval Academy, completed a master’s program in International Relations at Kocaeli University, and received further education in Security Studies and International Relations at the Turkish Naval War College. He also completed professional training programs on Emission Trading Systems, Green, Social and Sustainability Bonds, Organizational Carbon Accounting, Sustainable Finance Taxonomies, ESG and Corporate Sustainable Finance, and Green Bonds from institutions such as the World Bank, GHG Management Institute, Sustainable Banking and Finance Network, Climate Finance Institute, and UNDP.

In addition to his consultancy and training work, İlyas has written articles on climate change, corporate sustainability, the EU Green Deal, sustainable finance, climate-related security risks, artificial intelligence in sustainability reporting, CSRD, CS3D, and decarbonization of global supply chains. His publications reflect his broader interest in the connection between sustainability, regulation, finance, climate policy, technology, and business transformation.

In his courses, İlyas focuses on making complex sustainability reporting standards easier to understand and easier to apply in practice. His teaching approach combines clear explanations, structured learning paths, real reporting examples, regulatory context, and practical guidance for professionals who want to build confidence in IFRS S1 and IFRS S2 sustainability reporting.
