Dr Ian Martin holds a Phd in the History of Science, Technology and Medicine from Manchester University, an MSc (with distinction) in Business, and a first-class honours degree in English. His Master’s thesis, ‘Long Hours and Stress for IT Professionals’ won the departmental business school prize for best dissertation in 2000.
Previously a director of training and consultancy companies in Sheffield and Manchester, Ian held a number of varied roles in Barclays Bank over a thirteen year period and spent twelve years as a senior researcher and lecturer at three UK universities.
With over 30 years’ business experience, and a twelve-year academic publishing record in the fields of people, organisation and technology, Ian combines the latest theoretical knowledge with genuine practical insight. As an experienced educator and coach, his aim is to equip employees with the knowledge, skills and confidence they need in order to identify and manage issues to improve their own workplace wellbeing and health.
In his spare time, Ian is a British Athletics track and field coach who helps athletes get the best out of their bodies and minds to improve their health, wellbeing and performance.
