About me
Howard Samuel Schneider is a Los Angeles native. He is a MFA graduate of California State University Los Angeles and served as an adjunct professor at both California State University Northridge and California State University Los Angeles, having taught in both graphic design and foundation areas at the former since August 2001. Professor Schneider taught at Pasadena City College for over fourteen years, and also at Academy of Art University, San Francisco – teaching online for three years. Prof. Schneider has conducted twelve workshops in design principles since 2010, and initialed an online educational site DesignPrinciples101 (dot com). Prof. Schneider brings over 35 years of design and advertising business experience into his coursework having teamed with clients across a broad spectrum of service and manufacturing interests. As a graphic design instructor, Prof. Schneider's goal has been to develop in each student, the ability and confidence to address visual communication issues visually, conceptually, and technically. As a foundation art instructor, Prof. Schneider’s goal has been to instill in each student a principle-based groundwork, upon which their personalities can intuitively and cognitively flourish. The site DesignPrinciples101 permits a more in-depth view into Prof. Schneider's teaching priorities, while offering insights into art and design education history.
