Eric Thal's professional acting career started when he was cast opposite Melanie Griffith in Sidney Lumet's "A Stranger Among Us." in 1991. After years of working in film and television and on stage, he began teaching English speech and accent reduction, as well as coaching actors, and in the mid-2000s founded AEM Accent Reduction in New York City. After more than 15 years working as a private coach with students from all over the world, he spent one year developing an audio and text course to teach pronunciation of the Vowels and Consonants of American English (Accent Reduction The Eric Thal Way: Course One -- Sound and Word Drills). He then spent an additional year expanding the Vowels element of the text and audio course into a video course, supplementing the drills with on camera instruction, and an explanation of the spelling rules in English, as well as the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA).
