My name is Eddie Seneviratne. I am an experienced Merchant Marine Officer with 22 years of experience sailing onboard foreign going cargo ships trading worldwide, been a Marine Pilot, a Graduate with a BSc Degree in Marine Transportation. During my sea career, I was engaged in transporting petroleum products such as Gasoline, Jet fuel, Auto gas oil onboard a refined product tanker as the Master.

After taking over this vessel, I personally had to educate the entire crew regarding the dangers involved in carrying such volatile cargo. Periodic firefighting drills were conducted to train the crew especially prior to loading this cargo.

At the time of my leaving this vessel, I did not register a single incident with regards to fire, never had near misses due to my continuous fire safety training for the foreign crew onboard.

After retiring from sea career, I, embarked on Maritime Training and Management in two ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 9001:2015 quality managed Maritime Training Colleges. As the senior lecturer in charge of survival and safety departments in the 1st college, I, lectured Fire Prevention and Firefighting, Advanced Fire Fighting, Industrial Firefighting courses for Seafarers, Sea marshals, and those who worked in various industries such as power stations, hospitals, airports, schools and work stations.

As the Director in the 2nd college, I was able to set up a state of art firefighting station to train the above personnel more of a simulated pattern. With a total experience of 24 years in the maritime training and management industry I specialized in this subject to present this course to you.
