About me
I'm an accidental life explorer, it just happen by default and not by design.
A journey of 35 years over 20 countries; from multinationals to family conglomerates to SMEs; from start-up to scale-up to turn-around businesses. All distilled into 100,000 hours of colorful and exciting work life experience which I am truly grateful.
It all started after I'd completed my PhD under scholarship from the UK Atomic Energy Authority, when the Citibank New York office called me out of the blue. I guess I did a pretty good job in modeling energy flow so they asked me to model cashflow (derivatives to be precise) for them. In a way, energy and money are similar as both are powerful and yet not physical. Well, to choose between a prestigious global bank and a nuclear power station is not that difficult, after-all the money was indeed better !
I earned the stripes to the C-level corner offices in some blue chip companies in my journey. Then came the Eureka moment that I should transfer my wealth of knowledge to the family conglomerates especially in Asia Pacific. Now I have settled down in Thailand (land of thousand smiles) with my wife, and my son has just started his journey as a derivative lawyer in London (UK).
I'm blessed with this alchemy of first person knowledge of business best practices and the nuances of management culture between East and West. Knowledge without experience is philosophy, experience without knowledge is naivety.
I'm looking forward to sharing my journey, ideas and lessons with you in this course.
