A Chemical Engineer and an MBA in IT and Finance, Dhiraj Lal is an Author, Practitioner, Trainer, and Consultant. He has over 32 years in the industry, of which over 20 years is in Risk Management and related domains. His last Banking job was as Head of Audit Risk and review for Citibank, and he has worked also with Standard Chartered, Agilent and American Express, where he headed Risk, Controllership and Internal Control. He first started teaching the CBCI certification course around 2012, as an approved trainer of the UK-based Business Continuity Institute (BCI). And before that, he has taught also the CBCP course by the DRI - Disaster Recovery Institute. Over 5000 professionals have attended the training, awareness or simulation sessions conducted by him. He has delivered over 500 talks, workshops and webinars in national and international events - the largest being a talk for a global organisation that has 450,000 employees worldwide! He teaches and consults in Risk Management (ISO 31000) and related domains. He has been invited to present on Risk and Resilience at the BCI Annual conference in the UK, DRI US, BCM Institute Singapore, itSMF UK, DRI Asia in Malaysia, ISACA UAE, KSA and India. He has presented at various Middle East Business and IT Resilience Summits in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, KSA and India, and also CORE’s global online summit.
Mr. Lal is a Contributing Author to the Encyclopaedia of Business Continuity, 3rd Edition (published by John Wile and Sons), and he and Daman Dev Sood are joint authors of: Step by Step guide AE/SCNS/NCEMA 7000:2015. He is an expert in Risk, BCM, and Crisis Management, and has delivered many Simulation Exercises with varying scenarios like Cyber Attack, Fire, Civil Unrest, High Rise Building etc. including for the top management of Central Banks and other organisations in different countries and industry sectors.
