About me
Niamh discovered yoga and Pilates first while studying at college, in her home country, Ireland. She then went on to serve in the armed forces, first as an infantry soldier and secondly as an Irish Air Corps flight attendant on the ministerial jets. What had started as a dream job slowly left her feeling burnt out and disillusioned with the Defense Forces. Niamh discovered a Pilates studio next to her urban home in Dublin city. She began taking classes at a local studio. At first, she’d join class twice a week, but within six months, she was practicing every single day and sneaking out of work early to catch sessions with her favourite instructor. That’s when she realised that Pilates and yoga had become the most important thing in her life.
Her first Pilates teacher, Susan Church, offered workshops and trainings and she attended as many as she could! Next Niamh joined Joyce Gavin’s 12 week Pilates teacher training course, initially out of personal interest, but by the end of the first month, she had already applied for her career break from the Irish Air Corps, given notice to her landlord and made plans to make yoga and Pilates her career, not just her hobby. Niamh bought an Around the World ticket and left Ireland. She got her first teaching job upon graduating, In Panama and to date, she has taught in many studios around the world.....In jungle detox centers, on beach fronts in Thailand, tropical islands, Greek roof tops, historical castles in Ireland.... she’s trained with leading Pilates, yoga, anatomy, and philosophy teachers including Carolyn Cowan and Dr Vishwas Mandlik of Yoga Vida Gurukul in India. In addition Niamh has studied Face Yoga with Danielle Collins.
Her approach to Pilates and yoga classes remains ever focused on the balance between strength and flexibility, exertion and release. Her classes focus of all the principles of the Pilates method and particularly the flow, you can expect to move, sweat and breathe.
