David Sammel was born in Johannesburg, South Africa and is a world prominent and accredited tennis coach, sports consultant and writer. His career spans 30 years and has coached and mentored tennis players including current pros: Liam Broady, Marcus Daniel and Samantha Murray.
Previous players to represent their countries are Jamie Delgado (now coach to Andy Murray), Wesley Moodie (2005 Wimbledon Doubles Champion), Arvind Parmar (Eurosport and ATP Worldfeed), Barry Cowan (Sky Sports), Martin Lee and Andrew Richardson.
Since 2010, David has been the Head Coach at TeamBath-MCTA and authored a best-selling book ‘Locker Room Power: Building an Athlete’s Mind’.
David began coaching in the Netherlands in 1987 whilst still playing – assisting his club to top tier promotion. In 2006 David founded the Monte Carlo Tennis Academy (MCTA) in Monaco alongside fitness trainer, Jez Green who went onto train Andy Murray and Alexander Zverev. The purpose of the academy was to discover, train and manage junior tennis players into top professionals. In 2010, the MCTA relocated and joined with Bath University.
An officially recognised Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Tour Coach, he was awarded their highest coaching award for tennis in 2016
