I grew up in Arizona where I was a club swimmer and then found water polo when our family moved to California. I fell in love with the sport and was a North Orange County All-Star, All-League, and All-CIF player at Sunny Hills High School. I then played at Claremont McKenna College, where I was a co-captain and an All-American Selection.
After college I was the director and head coach of the Shaquatics Water Polo Club. For over 20 years I specialized in teaching the often overlooked fundamentals of the sport. While many coaches avoided teaching eggbeater (or taught it wrong) I developed my system to teach all my players how to tread water correctly. This led to our YouTube Channel, Shaquatics Water Polo, now with over 3 million views. While YouTube is great to put out individual videos it's not ideal to teach a series, so that students can build their skills in the proper order.
Coaching also led me to teach my students the important life lessons that come from athletics, and this led to the Child's Guide Series, a series of books geared towards teaching kids values and morals in a fun way.
I was fortunate to have had great coaches teach me not only the right way to play the game but the right way to compete and carry myself through life. I'm passionate about teaching and passing along those great lessons to as many students as I can.
