Chris Urwin is a technology leader and practitioner with over 25 years of experience spanning infrastructure architecture, software development, and senior field engineering leadership.
Currently serving as VP of Field Engineering at Obot AI, Chris has built and led global technical teams at some of the most respected names in open-source and cloud-native technology — including Rancher Labs (where he was the first Field Engineer), SUSE, and Red Hat. He has a proven track record of translating complex technology into practical, hands-on learning, having created and delivered Rodeos, training courses, and enablement programmes used by teams and customers worldwide.
Chris brings deep expertise in containerisation, Kubernetes, Linux, CI/CD, infrastructure automation, and cloud-native architecture, alongside strong skills in C#, Java, and JavaScript. He holds an MBA from the University of Leeds and a Joint Honours degree in Computing and Economics from the University of Newcastle.
