About me
Professional Musician/Educator/Certified Personal Chef/Reiki Master
Hello! I am a professional performance musician, multi-instrumentalist, educator, clinician, and composer/arranger originally from the San Francisco Bay Area. I specialize in Afro-Latin percussion while continuing to explore other sounds of Arabic, Flamenco, Brazilian and Vocal-Percussion. I have been an active free-lance professional musician and recording artist contributing my talents to many regional and international artists throughout my music career.
I hold both my BM, MM with emphasis in Jazz Studies from San Jose State University where I studied composition, arranging alongside instrumental music pedagogy. I am also a graduate of the School for Music Vocations founded by jazz pianist, composer, and arranger Phil Mattson. I have been an active composer & arranger who has had commissioned works and arrangements performed by elementary to college university programs.
Throughout my life, I've been fortunate to have teachers and professional musicians take extra time out of their lives to present me with all the possibilities of my potential. I was impacted by a mentor who said, “If you’re not practicing as much as you should, it doesn’t mean you’re a bad person. It just means that you’re cheating yourself and ultimately you’ll have to cheat someone else.” Now I teach this in a collection of music values that has become part of my teaching philosophy. I believe that music can uplift the human spirit, and music education can help one find their place in society and cultivate humanity in the world. My goal is to assist you on the journey. Music saved my life, and its profound affect can not be underestimated.
My education in the culinary arts:
Food has always been with me, side-by-side, as a young boy and throughout my professional career. I worked in professional kitchens throughout my life learning with outstanding chefs and culinary enthusiasts. I am a Certified Personal Chef graduate from USPCA (United States Personal Chef Association) , created and was sole proprietor of "Food with Love" Personal Chef Service. I attended the California Culinary Academy, an affiliate of Le Cordon Bleu in San Francisco, CA. My experiences have taken me to conclude that practicing basic fundamentals are key to accomplishing greater success and progress in our development, and this is what I will impart to you in the kitchen with making the cooking process accessible to you at any stage in your development.
