Balal is a British painter and art tutor at various universities, globally. He has been drawing, painting and teaching art for over ten years. He is keen on drawing and painting. At art school he learnt the techniques of ‘professional’ practising artists and the great Masters which enhanced his existing drawing and painting skills.
Balal shares his gained knowledge and experience with his students through these online courses to allow those who may not have the privilege of attending art school in London, England.
Balal works across a range of media including painting, drawing, collage and digital art. His classical training in the Persian-Mughal miniature tradition is evident in his unique re-contextualised approach to this genre. Balal’s works weave multiple narratives that are drawn from Persian-Mughal miniatures . Balal was a Shortlisted Finalist of the UK John Ruskin Prize 2019 . His works are held in private collections internationally.

He believes that drawing and painting are creative skills, which are not only visually satisfying and therapeutic, but also open the brain’s creative neural pathways in other fields . This skill allows for better observation generally and lateral thinking.
