About me
Hi, my name is Ayoola Ponle, and I am a seasoned maritime professional with 30 years’ experience in the industry.
My training voyage started in 1992 at the Maritime Academy of Nigeria where I was trained as a Marine Engineer and completed the Merchant Navy Officers’ Course. I also did more training in Marine Engineering operations at the South Tyneside College, South Shields, United Kingdom.
I hold a Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Transport from the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), United Kingdom.
I have the International General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety awarded by NEBOSH, UK.
From the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers (ICS), United Kingdom, I have Advanced Diploma in Ship Operations and Management and have successfully completed the Professional Qualifying Examination as a certified Chartered Shipbroker.
I am a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers. I am currently the coordinator of the Education and Training Committee of the West Africa Branch of the Institute.
For my work experience voyage, I was with the Nigerian Ports Authority for eighteen years from 1988 starting at the Administration Department and, after training as a Marine Engineer, joined the Marine Department where I worked in various capacities up to the rank of Chief Engineer onboard different types of vessels.
Since I left the Nigerian Ports Authority, I have sailed onboard vessels and also worked ashore with a number of national and international ship-owning and ship management companies occupying from middle to managerial levels.
