I am an entry level occupational therapy student in my third year of an entry level occupational therapy program at Drake University. I am currently completing my doctoral capstone at Des Moines Refugee Support, which is a nonprofit that supports refugees after resettlement in the area. My capstone project focuses on how occupational therapists can aid in refugee resettlement. My project also highlights that community engagement, social participation, and community supports can impact refugee resettlement. These factors can have a positive impact on health and wellbeing for refugees after displacement.
