Arthur Joseph

Arthur Samuel Joseph M.A., founder and chairman of the Vocal Awareness Institute, today is widely-recognized as one of the world’s foremost authorities on the human voice. A renowned teacher/mentor, Mr. Joseph’s mission is to Change the World through Voice. His trademarked, proprietary voice and leadership training program, Vocal Awareness,™ is designed to teach Communication Mastery through a disciplined regimen of highly- specific techniques designed to cultivate an embodied and enhanced leadership presence, as well as personal presence, through body language techniques, vocal warm-ups, and storytelling skills. What emerges is an integrative and integral communication style.

Mr. Joseph has taught globally for over five decades. His varied client list includes national and international leaders in politics, business, entertainment and broadcasting, the hospitality industries as well as among world-class athletes, motivational speakers, life coaches, noted actors, singers and other luminaries of the stage and screen. Formerly on the faculty at the University of Southern California School of Theatre, he has been a visiting artist at both Yale and George Washington Universities, and visiting professor in the New York University Graduate Extension program, among many others nationally and internationally.

His lifelong dedication to his mission, “To change the world through Voice” imbues his work with a vital sense of urgency as our relationships, our culture, our nation, and our global community becomes increasingly dependent upon communication technology and social media to do the work of communication. Over the course of his career in the entertainment industry, his many students have ranged from Oscars winners such as Sally Field and Angelina Jolie, to enduring on-screen stars as Sylvester Stallone, Pierce Brosnan and Arnold Schwarzenegger. A few of his many corporate clients have included Ernst and Young, Business Management Consultants, Deloitte and Touche, Financial Management Consultants, Lexus International, the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company, the NFL Network, FOX Network, and ESPN. In addition, Mr. Joseph has been voted “Best of the Best” by the Young Presidents Organization.

Among his notable students in all major sports are 5 Olympic Gold Medalists as well as Hall of Famers, including the NFL’s Emmitt Smith, Michael Irvin, Jerry Rice, Marshall Faulk and eleven other Hall of Famers, the NBA’s Irvin “Magic” Johnson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, and its great coach, Pat Riley, Major League Baseball´s Joe Gerardi, Manager of the NY Yankees, among a host of current players, retired players, and sports broadcasters.

Formerly on the faculty of the University of Southern California School of Theatre, Mr. Joseph has been a visiting artist at Yale and George Washington Universities, a guest lecturer at New York University, as well as traveled the world teaching Vocal Awareness. He is the author of 5 books, multiple CDs and DVDs, and on-line courses. His most recent book, Vocal Leadership: 7- Minutes-a-Day to Communication Mastery, with foreword by Roger Goodell, Commissioner of the National Football League, was published by McGraw-Hill in 2013.
