About me
Doctor in Chemical Sciences from the University of Barcelona (2005). Chemical Industrial Technical Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia in 1994, in 2003 I obtained the title of Engineering in Industrial Organization from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia and a Master's degree in technical management of tanning in 2001.
My teaching-research career is developed in three areas of work: The teaching, preparing students from more than 40 different countries for the chemical industry and tannery. I have published four specialized tannery textbooks. To improve teaching quality today, I have incorporated the Flipped classroom methodology. In September 2012 I obtained the Advanced Research Accreditation. I have been director of the Master's program in Tannery Technical Management from 2005 to 2018, deputy director of the Igualada School of Engineering (UPC) from 2008 to 2010, director of the Igualada School of Engineering (UPC) since 2010 until 2018 and from September 2008 to 2018 I have been coordinator of the Official Master's Degree Program in Leather Engineering. From September 2018 to September 2020 I have been deputy director of the Higher Polytechnic School of the University of Lleida.
The second area, that of research, developing new processes to improve the sustainability of the leather tanning and finishing process.
Since 2012 I am the director of the research group A3 in Leather Innovation Center, a consolidated group recognized by AGAUR (2017SGR 1367) and developer of public technology with Tecnio accreditation; with 9 hiring of research personnel, two scholarship holders and 7 PDI. I have participated as a researcher in 35 national and EU competitive R&D projects, of which 21 as IP. Currently, I am participatingas principal inv estigator in 10 approved projects, 1 in the RIS3CAT call, 1 in the AGAUR Llavor call, 4 at the national level (in the CDTI calls, Collaboration Challenges, and CIEN Strategic Program) and 4 at the international level (in the H2020, Eurostars, Manunet and Innoglobal calls). From this research, 80 articles have been published in indexed journals. I have also co-directed 7 doctoral theses at the UPC, 1 at the University of Camerino (Italy), 1 at the UdL, and currently I am directing three at the UdL. I am also directing an industrial doctoral thesis with a grant of 33,000 from AGAUR. I have three six-year research periods (2002-2007, 2008-2013 and 2014-2020).
The third area of work is technology transfer. My technological offer is specialized in the development of innovation projects and technology transfer by the different companies in the value chain of the leather sector (slaughterhouses, tanneries, manufacturing companies, chemical companies, waste treatment). I have developed an innovative technology to obtain a tannin extract from wine byproducts (grape seeds) that can be applied to leather tanning. The technology is currently patented and is in the licensing phase (WO2017/203429A1).
