About me
My name is Dr Benyakoub Amine (Dr Ben for short). I am a medical doctor specializing in diagnostic radiology, that is looking at Ultrasound, CT and MRIs and trying to tell what disease someone has or hasn't.
My passion the human brain started when I was around 9 years old. I had a copy of a French scientific magazine from the seventies (the magazine still exists but that copy was yellowish old). The articles were about games and brain power, and on a tiny square there was an advertisement for a miracle technique to memorize anything easily including an entire chess game. My curiosity was on fire! Unfortunately, living in Africa, I had no way of responding to that infomercial that was over twenty years old anyway. For years I kept wondering what the mysterious techniques were all about.
Then, in my teenage years, I had access to libraries and internet... I read every single book I found that had the words ''brain'', ''memory'', ''creativity'', ''IQ'' in it! This knowledge made my highschool years heaven. I was able to have a social life, play games, practices sports and still have the best marks. I would also take IQ tests daily... for the fun it, and I gradually saw my scores move from 140 to 195. I had a firm belief that, unless one has a serious disease, genius is made and trained not born.
Then medical school came by and the amount of knowledge was so overwhelming that the old techniques I read about were no longer sufficient. To make things worse, in my second year in medical school I decided to pursue a degree in mathematics and computer science at the same time. I was overwhelmed with information so I figured why not read some more books about memory and learning maybe I will solutions there, but I found that it was always the same tools being paraphrased. I had to find solutions by myself. I had to tweak certain techniques, abandon other techniques and come up with brand new ones, applying the knowledge I now have of the human body.
This philosophy of thinking for yourself is my moto, and I encourage my students to do the same, most of my courses are about giving you tools and empowering you to use to come up with solutions for your own very unique life.
