About me
Adrian was a career Principal Violinist with Opera Australia for over 25 years; he has also been a Guest Concertmaster, Acting Deputy Concertmaster, and Acting Principal of 2nd Violins.
Adrian has a repertoire experience of over 120 Operas & 150 Ballets, & all of the standard Symphonic repertoire.
As an Electric/Improvising violinist/arranger Adrian regularly performs as a Soul/Funk/Blues stylist
Adrian is the owner/director of the Sydney Lyric Orchestra whose clients have included the Paris Opera Ballet, Jose Carreras, Tina Arena, Opera in the Vineyards, Kiri Te Kanawa, Richard Bonynge
For the Sydney Festival, Adrian as Concertmaster led performances for Sir George Martin, Bernadette Peters, Al Jarreau; led orchestras for Australian tours of David Helfgott; Sir Cliff Richard, Rod Stewart.
In 2005 Adrian completed the International Masterclass for Conductors, St Petersburg, under Alexander Polyanichko.
Adrian K has released 3 Blues/Soul based CD's, performed "Jazz in the Domain", and has led string sessions in over 10 Top-10 Australian Singles and Albums, and currently has a Live DVD/CD, “Classically Blue” which he has produced and edited.
As a Blues Rock and Soul violinist, Adrian has accompanied singers in contemporary music from Australian artists Jeff Duff, to Geoff Achison, to international artists Martha Wainwright and UnKle, and is a guest artist accompanying on “the Voice” Australia 2012 and 2013.
Adrian has presented improvisation Seminars to the Rising Stars program at the Sydney Conservatorium and has a 3 hr Lecture in “making Music Immediate” for strings first demonstrated at the Wollongong Conservatorium
Adrian has written many hours of arrangements for contemporary artists, bands, singers and visiting overseas artists that required this service – ranging in style from Jimmy Barnes 'Flesh & Wood' National Tour; Aled Jones to UnKle, blues artist Geoff Achison; re-arranging Wendy Matthews’ repertoire for her tour with Strings; Beatles and Led Zeppelin music to suit the musical expression of their related homage shows, and music for school ensembles taken from contemporary music repertoire, and compositions in classical style - not to mention the recorded arrangements for bands needing strings or brass to broaden and complete the artist’s vision.
