Samantha Carbon UKCP is founder of Samantha Carbon Therapy. She holds a Masters Degree in Psychotherapy. She is UKCP accredited. MBACP registered.
She provides counselling and psychotherapy in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment in Shoreditch, Barbican, Ruislip, Marylebone London.
She believes: “We are all work in progress” and advocates the use of psychotherapy as an ‘ordinary’ investment in ourselves and our emotional wellbeing. She believes that the American philosophy of people embracing therapist sessions as part of everyday life would be beneficial to us in the UK, challenging the prevailing British approach of maintaining a ‘stiff upper lip’. She is keen to encourage a new generation of counselling, to encourage us all to take regular time out to learn more about ourselves.
Sam practices Relational Psychotherapy which means that she adapts her approach to suit the individual and that the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of everything. I believe when two individuals are working towards a common goal and who are both implicitly available in the therapeutic process ie myself and the client, then together we can work towards a course of action. I believe Clients are able to gain a huge sense of relief from sharing what they have been trying to deal with on their own and together they can explore the past and present.
She follows the Transactional Analysis philosophy which works on the basis that:
• People are born OK
• People having emotional, relational or other difficulties are nonetheless full, intelligent human beings
• We are responsible for our own experience
• Human behaviour is predictable
• All emotional problems are curable given adequate knowledge and the proper approach
• Change is possible
• People know what they need
