Steve Jones has over 30 years of experience in the engineering and computer science fields. Steve earned a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering and has worked in the computer and engineering industry during that time.
Steve spent much of his software development career in a large computer peripheral and aircraft manufacturing companies. He has designed and implemented software for applications ranging from flight simulators including image generation and large scale manufacturing robotics equipment using programming languages such as Assembly, C, C++ and C#. He has experience with many different types of computer equipment such as micro-controllers, programmable logic controllers, server and desktop computer systems.
In addition to his work experience in the software development industry Steve teaches C++, math and Modern OpenGL graphics API courses at the Game Institute. He has been either teaching assistant or instructor at the Game Institute since 2006.
Steve enjoys developing computer games from custom games engines he developed or game frameworks such as Unity and Unreal Engine. He also likes experimenting and developing graphics demos using Modern OpenGL and DirectX APIs and making video game assets using Blender.
Steve has written a section on Debugging C++ application strategies in a book called Advanced Game Programming—A Gamedev Collection.
