Learn the easiest and basic method to work with SAP Crystal Reports 2013 in Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 connected to MS SQL Server 2008 Database.
Let's make the first move to design & display one simple Crystal Report for the professional presentation of data in a web browser, in a manner that could be used for decision making by the management.
This course will help software developers to get rid-off writing complex & lengthy code for displaying Crystal Report in a web browser. This course demonstrates a "Developers-Friendly" method of:-
Software/s and their versions used in this course:
Contents and Overview:
In only one hour duration with only five videos this course covers most of the SAP Crystal Reports essentials, fundamentals and terminologies along with the best practice of passing structured Query to retrieve data from the database.
In this course you will see how easy it is to use the Graphical User Interface of SAP Crystal Report for placing data chunks into proper sections of the report.
You will also learn to summarize data by inserting "running-total" fields into the report.
In order to display the report, this course provides a short programming code written in C#, which is easy, tested and error free.
Upon completion you will be able to design any type of report on your own and will be working independently with both Microsoft Visual Studio and SAP Crystal Reports.

Section 1: Understanding Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 GUI
In this very first step we will gather organised data into one place from the Database. This place is called a DataSet. Our Crystal Report reads the data from this place. The DataSet object acts as a bridge between the Crystal Report and the physical Database. The physical Database could be any type, such as MS-SQL Server, Oracle or Access etc.
Section 2: Adding New Crystal Report to the project
There are several ways of working with Crystal reports in web applications, but most of them are complicated and lengthy. Here I am introducing the one and only shortest and the best way of adding and connecting a Crystal Report with the Database using a simple Dataset Object concept.
Section 3: Design & Format the Crystal report
As it is your first Crystal report, you will learn how to add and format data into the different sections of the Crystal report. The design panel of Crystal report is divided into some sections; such as Report Header, Page Header, Page Footer etc. The placement of data into these sections is our main objective in this lecture.
Section 4: Preparing a WebForm to handle our Crystal report
Till now, our new Crystal report has been designed and ready to be displayed. Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 and later provide a specific Control "CrystalReportViewer" control that handles the properties and methods. You will see how simple it is to drag & drop controls on the webform.
Section 5: The last step of displaying our Crystal report in a browser
A simple, concise and concrete C# code that creates a Connection with the database, tells the application where the database is, defines the SQL query to select and retrieve desired data from the database, and finally displays the data on Crystal Report in a browser.
I am a Microsoft Certified Professional since 2002 and holding Degrees in Computer Science, Business Administration and General Management. I entered into the field of IT in 1994 with a diploma in computer science from Pakistan and then went to England where I continued my studies and acquired diploma in Computer Networking and Information Management in 1998. As a software developer, my career started when i became MCP in 2002 and developed a complete ERP System software by the end of 2004. I worked a lot in Crystal Reports in the ERP system with integration in both Desktop & Web Applications. I designed several complex Crystal Reports during the journey of various versions of Crystal Report from versions 8.0 to 2013. My expertise are
During my career of research and study i went to the following universities & colleges:
My worldwide projects are successfully running in organizations which include:
Currently I am working in WEBONSIVE Software house in Pakistan as a Web Development Manager where i am designing & developing Web based SAP Crystal Reports in ASP.net 4.5, AJAX, C# on Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 environment.
My tutorials are online on youtube and DailyMotion. I am also solving critical issues of SAP Crystal Reports Developers through my facebook group "SAPCrystalReports" to more than 280 global members which are increasing day by day.
