Requirements
  • No prior knowledge of Fusion 360 is required. Fusion 360 will run on a PC or a Mac-based computer. A three button scroll-wheel mouse is recommended. Access to the internet while using Fusion 360 will be necessary to save files and to also perform cloud rendering.
Description

Struggling to visualize your design idea? This course teaches you the basics of the design visualization process, taking a design concept from a sketch to a CAD generated photo-realistic rendering. Using the automotive design visualization process as the workflow example, you develop a photo-realistic render of concept car through a series of hand sketching and CAD modeling exercises using Autodesk Sketchbook and Autodesk Fusion 360.

In this project, you use Fusion 360 and Sketchbook to explore design visualization in the industrial design process by sketching concepts for a car in Sketchbook and modeling your designs in Fusion 360. By working through the project exercises, you will develop the design visualization skills necessary to create a photo-realistic model and communication your design concepts. 

Fusion 360 is a cloud-based CAD/CAM tool for collaborative product development. Fusion 360 enables exploration and iteration on product ideas and collaboration within a distributed product development team. It combines organic shapes modelling, mechanical design and manufacturing in one comprehensive package.

After completing this project, you will be able to:

  • Use Sketchbook to generate initial automotive concepts.
  • Sketch a vehicle in orthographic views.
  • Explore automotive shapes using Fusion 360.
  • Leverage CAD to speed up the sketching process.
  • Add details to the vehicle using patches and cut operations.
  • Model wheels and tires.
  • Render a vehicle.
  • Refine rendering in Sketchbook.
