Course Description

This course combines 2D traditional and digital skills which are the foundation for a game graphics artists whether you are pursuing a 2D or 3D career. It will also show you how to avoid beginners mistakes when creating 2d game graphics. We start with the principles of light, shadow and perspective and then move on to digital graphics inside of Photoshop. The course is broken down into 4 weeks/stages. Each week there is a homework assignment which is designed to develop your skill and imagination. What makes the game course unique is that it combines traditional and digital skills together into the same course.

  • Sketchpad, Pencil and Charcoal. (Tasks can be done digitally with tablet)

Instructor Biography

Nick Sweetman, Game Graphics Teacher

I'm a British game graphics artist and teacher with 9 years industry experience in both England and Finland at the companies Rebellion and Digital Chocolate. I have a strong knowledge of both 2d and 3d graphics pipelines and have worked in marketing, studio and operations department at Digital Chocolate. I'm also experienced with art direction and management.

Trained in Finland as a teacher I now teach Game Graphics at different schools in Helsinki that include, Kajaani University of Applied Sciences, Metropolia, Laajasalo, and Stadin AV vocational school.
