As a yogi for over 20 years,  I have attended many different workshops including a mala making workshop years ago. When I attended the workshop, I knew I would give the mala necklace to my teenage daughter as a gift, but something magical & unexpected happened while hand-knotting each bead together.

As I contemplated how I could give this special piece of jewelry greater significance, I decided to infuse 108 different prayers, wishes, intentions, dreams & desires I had for my daughter and her life, into each bead & knot. As a mother, this became a powerful meditative experience …to think of 108 different prayers for the kind of life I hoped my daughter would lead, the woman she would grow to become, and the experiences life would bestow upon her.

When I gave the mala to her daughter, I explained on a little notecard what I had done. Of course, my daughter loved it! She still loves it. She still wears the mala and it has traveled the world with her. When she’s not wearing it, it hangs in her bedroom.

In 2019, my husband and I embarked on an exciting adventure, moving from Southern California to Todos Santos, Baja California Sur, Mexico. After resigned from a corporate career, I contemplated what type of work would be most meaningful this point in life and how I could connect with the local community. I remembered the mala making experience and decided to offer a few workshops where I quickly discovered the local community & visitors embraced this type of meaningful, meditative art experience. Since then, I have lead over 35 workshops to hundreds of guests in Baja and Southern California. I am now so excited to be offering a Baja Malas online workshop so anyone from around the world can experience the magic of making their own mala.

My intention with a Baja Malas Workshop is to provide my guests, both in person and online, the space and opportunity to CONNECT with themselves, the divine and others, experience COMMUNITY and CREATE jewelry that inspires.

When I received requests to make malas for stores to sell, I have now found myself as a jewelry designer and maker as well! Helping women propel to their greatest life possible has been a mission in my life for many years, and so when I connected with a local women’s collective in Todos Santos, Manos Magicas, to help create, she knew she had created something meant to be.
