After graduating with a First Class Joint Honours in History and English Literature from Glasgow University, I completed a PGDE teaching qualification through Jordanhill, Strathclyde University. This enabled me to become a Secondary English teacher, which I enjoyed for three years, before taking the exciting opportunity to transfer to Further Education.
Currently, as a Communication lecturer, I help students to develop functional skills in Reading, Writing and Speaking, contextualising these to their various vocational courses. In my teaching, I aim to engage students through succinct, quality explanations; practical, real-life examples and creative challenges, wherever possible, that enable active learning.
I'm now into my thirties, married to a wonderful woman and blessed with a beautiful daughter who's just starting to walk. In my spare time, I love to play basketball and football, as well as read a good book and watch a thought-provoking film.
