Richard Proteau

Richard Proteau  has more than 25 years experience as a Data Analyst, Data Engineer and Programmer. His career started in the financial industry where he created and managed a competitive intelligence team involved in the collection and analysis of data in order to determine the strengths and weaknesses of the insurance products sold by competitors.

Using his knowledge of programming, he also created an operational process allowing the sale of some of the largest insurance cases in Canada.

His financial career varied with as he took on various challenges and positions in Sales and Marketing. His last position was as Director of Sales for the province of Quebec where he used his knowledge of insurance and data analysis to lead one of the most successful sales team in Canada.

For personal reason, he had to retire from the insurance industry only acting now as a consultant providing product and tax opinions.

He created an organisation to promote the rights of consumer in the financial industry by providing opinions to the regulators in regards to changes to legislation. He investigated many consumer frauds to help consumers who had been financially harmed by various scams. One of his investigation, on a pump and dump scam involving a pharmaceutical company falsely promoting the development of a Malaria medicine was so successful that the fraudsters were stopped from replicating their fraud with a Biodiesel company while the consumers were able to recover the money they had lost.

During this time, he also used that opportunity to update his programming and data sciences skills. He programmed  many different financial applications on the Android platform. His last application involved the creation of a database of all fish species in the Atlantic allowing anyone to identify any fish species they encounter.

He now works as an analyst for a major retailer in the food industry.
