Rafael Guerra was born in Recife, on the northeast coast of Brazil. Being one of the oldest and largest cities in Brazil, Recife is a cultural centre, where Guerra grew up exploring an affinity to art from a young age. He first majored in Biology at University, but his love for art made him move to Italy, where, in 2009, he began his studies in Drawing and Painting at The Florence Academy of Art (FAA), leaving Biology behind and investing in a future as a painter. During his time at the Academy, his work received different prizes, one of which allowed him to study and work alongside Director Daniel Graves in his studio in Florence, whilst also taking on the role of assistant teacher in the FAA Intensive Drawing Program for one year. After fully graduating, in 2013, Guerra taught for 2 years at the FAA, before moving to Finland, where he currently lives and works, having a private studio in the city of Loviisa. He also works from his private studio in Brazil, in the coastal city of Olinda, an area which a UNESCO World Heritage Site. He tries to dedicate his time painting between these two countries, believing these two different environments are sources of great inspiration. Guerra has exhibited his work in Brazil, Italy, England and Finland.

On his work, Guerra tends to be influenced by his love for nature, for tales and myths, and fantasy related aspects of life. He draws inspiration from the nature around him, especially in forest-covered Finland, with its many natural areas. His works reflect this passion for natural things, incorporating aspects of a rustic, natural life, with vibrant dramatic colours portraying the beauty of the natural world.

Rafael Guerra nasceu em Recife, na costa nordeste do Brasil. Banhada pelo Oceano Atlântico, Recife é uma das mais antigas e maiores das cidades brasileiras, um centro cultural com um mercado ativo para a arte, onde Guerra cresceu explorando uma afinidade pela arte desde pequeno. Seguindo uma paixão que também tem pela natureza, ele se formou em Biologia na UFPE. Entretanto, seu amor pela Arte o levou a mudar-se para a Itália, onde, em 2009, começou seus estudos em Desenho e Pintura na Florence Academy of Art (FAA), deixando a Biologia para trás e investindo em um futuro como Pintor. Durante seu tempo na Academia, ele recebeu prêmios pelo seu desempenho estudantil, incluindo um prêmio especial de bolsa de estudos recebido ao se formar, que lhe permitiu mais um ano de estudos. Durante este quarto ano, Guerra trabalhou com o Diretor da FAA Daniel Graves em seu estúdio em Florença, enquanto também tomou o papel de professor assistente no Programa Intensivo de Desenho da FAA durante um ano.

Após terminar por completo os estudos, Guerra ensinou por dois anos na FAA, antes de mudar-se para a Finlândia, onde ele atualmente vive e trabalha, tendo um Estúdio de Pintura na cidade de Loviisa. Ele também trabalha a partir de seu estúdio no Brasil, no coração do bairro colonial da cidade costeira de Olinda, uma área declarada como Patrimônio Histórico e Cultural da Humanidade pela UNESCO e a primeira Capital Brasileira da Cultura. Ele tenta dedicar seu tempo para pintar e ensinar entre os dois países, acreditando que ambientes tão diferentes são enormes fontes de inspiração. Guerra já expôs seus trabalhos no Brasil, Itália, Inglaterra e Finlândia.

Em seu trabalho, Guerra tende a expressar suas influências pela natureza, contos e mitos, e temas relacionados à fantasia. Ele inspira-se pela natureza à sua volta, especialmente na Finlândia, um país coberto pro florestas, lagos e áreas naturais. Seu trabalho reflete uma paixão por coisas naturais, incorporando aspectos de vida rústica, simples, com também cores vibrantes e dramáticas retratando a beleza do mundo natural.
