Oliver Trenton is the pen name of Oliver Schütte, who divides his professional life between San Francisco and Berlin. Since 1986, he has worked as a writer for film and television, and since 1990 as a dramaturg, collaborating on the development of feature films, television movies, and series. His first screenplay, *Koan*, received the German Screenplay Award in 1988, marking the beginning of his long-standing involvement in screenplay development and narrative consulting.
In 1995, he began an extensive teaching career in Germany and internationally, working with film schools, universities, and professional training programs. His teaching focuses on screenplay structure, dialogue, character development, and dramaturgy for film and television. In parallel, he has continued to consult writers, producers, and directors on script development, accompanying projects from early concept stages through to production. A significant number of these projects have received national and international awards.
Oliver Trenton is the author of five books on the craft of storytelling, which address practical and theoretical aspects of screenwriting. Among them is the standard German-language work on dialogue, widely used in film education and professional practice. His writing and teaching are closely connected to his practical experience in the film and television industry, with an emphasis on narrative clarity, dramatic structure, and character-driven storytelling.
