Hallo liebe Studenten,   (hello dear students)

Mein Name ist Nancy (my name is Nancy) and I have been a German language professor at several universities in California for the past 6 years. I would like to welcome you to your first German language course!

Are you interested in learning German but are a bit afraid that it may be difficult? No worries. I have taught hundreds of students online and on campus over the years and had the joy of seeing them not only thrive and succeed in their German language skills but I have witnessed them having fun and venturing out to travel, live, study and work in German speaking countries, all while confidently speaking (often accent free) German.

A little bit about me: I was born and raised in Hamburg (second largest and most beautiful city in Germany:) and while my mother is German, my father was a second language German speaker himself who became fluent by immersing himself in the language and culture.

As a linguist, I am passionate about the German language and have been teaching German learners (of all ages) for the past 15 years.

My classes are designed to take any fear out of speaking and my goal is to boost your confidence and joy in applying what you are learning.

I will provide weekly opportunities to practice what you are learning in the videos and am happy to look over your work as well if you like.

I also like to invite you to spend a few minutes every day to learn a few new vocabulary words (as little as 3-5) as this will make a great difference.

However, when learning a language it is very important that you not only learn vocabulary and grammar, but that you familiarize yourself with culture and geography as well. These aspects of German will be included in my course along with helpful and fun online language immersion resources that we recommend to university students as well. Much of the material I am using to teach you in this class leans heavily on the materials I use every day at the college campus. I broke the lessons down in a bit easier steps and used additional tools to make learning German as easy as possible for you.

This course is designed for all ages! Feel free to learn together with your family or friends and make it an enjoyable experience. Take your vocabulary words to a park, your cozy kitchen or coffee shop, to the beach or your favorite place.
