Born in 1954 in rural Zimuto in Masvingo Zimbabwe, Etina attended primary school in Masvingo , secondary school at Gutu mission and received her tertiary education at Gutu Teachers College. She then proceeded to acquire a diploma in Management of Training(IPMZ) and a masters degree in educational administration, planning and policy studies (ZOL University). She worked as a primary school teacher for 25 years, became a District Officer with the Better Schools Programme of Zimbabwe for 12 years and a Reformed Church University of Zimbabwe administrator for 4 years until 2022 and is now exclusively teaching Shona and mentoring Simbarashe Trust teachers and pupils. She is a member of the Reformed Church in Zimbabwe. She is a published author with the Zimbabwe publishing house. Her Shona textbook series (Nhaka Youpenyu Grade 1-3) is currently in use in Zimbabwe's elementary schools.
