Melissa Peirce is a Bucks County, Pennsylvania native. She has written songs on albums that have collectively sold over 12 million units, collected over 115 million YouTube views and over 120 million streams from various streaming services. Highly regarded by the songwriting community as one of Nashville’s top lyricists, Melissa’s meticulous and unwavering dedication to the craft has solidified her status as a #1 hit songwriter and perpetually sought-after collaborator. Writing songs that have spanned many genres and platforms, Melissa’s talents have contributed to projects as diverse as her ever-evolving ability to tell a story through song.
She has had songs recorded by Carrie Underwood, Lady A, Garth Brooks, Reba McEntire, Hunter Hayes, LeAnn Rimes, Tyler Farr, David Nail, Joss Stone, Olivia Holt, Sabrina Carpenter, Jordan Fisher, Bea Miller, Eli Young Band, Chris Cagle, Terri Clark, Lucy Hale, Patrick Droney, Striking Matches, Elenowen, John Paul White (Civil Wars) and Emerson Hart (Tonic) among many others.
She has had five smash hit singles, including Tyler Farr's #1 Billboard radio and gold selling single "A Guy Walks Into A Bar", which is one of two songs Melissa has written that has garnered the highly coveted NSAI Award "Ten Songs I Wish I'd Written" and BMI Award for most played songs of the year. The other song to win the same accolades is "Red Light" performed by David Nail. "Red Light" was a #6 Billboard radio single and the longest running song of the year in 2009, on the charts for 42 weeks. Melissa has celebrated other hits with Eli Young Band's "Say Goodnight" and Reba McEntire's top 10 radio single "I'm Gonna Take That Mountain", which was one of the year's most played songs, a #1 CMT video and ASCAP award winner. In 2013, Melissa celebrated her first bluegrass #1 single with Marty Raybon and the song "Dirt Road Heartache".
Melissa co-wrote "Happily Ever After" performed by Jordan Fisher, the Magic Kingdom fireworks extravaganza theme song that plays nightly at Walt Disney World Orlando since 2017.
Melissa has had several film and TV placements, including "That's Where It Is" performed by Carrie Underwood. The song was placed in the Lionsgate movie New In Town starring Renee Zelleweger and Harry Connick Jr.. Disneynature's film Bears features Melissa's song "Carry On" performed by Olivia Holt. Her songs have also been featured in several Disney franchise projects, including a song on "The Little Mermaid Greatest Hits", a collaboration with Andy Dodd, Alan Menken and Tim Rice. Her songs have been featured on the animated series Star Darlings, and the Disney Channel series Andy Mack. Disney Book Publishing's young adult book series Deep Blue featured her song "Open Your Eyes, performed by Bea Miller, as the promotional franchise song for the series.
Melissa has had several Disney holiday song releases with Sabrina Carpenter, Lucy Hale and Asher Angel. Those songs have been performed on the Disney Channel, Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade and the ABC Disney Christmas Day Parade. Her songs have been performed around the world from Good Morning America, NBC Today, Late Night with Seth Myers, the CMA and ACM awards, the CCMA awards and the revered Grand Ole Opry stage.
Melissa has written several top 10 charting international radio hits. Joss Stone's "Don't Start Lyin' To Me Now" in the UK, Doc Walker's "I am Ready" and Brett Kissel's gold selling, Juno award winning album, tour and single "We Were That Song" in Canada.
Melissa taught classes on songwriting for several years as an adjunct professor at her alma mater Belmont University, and currently writes for Sheltered Music/Patrick Joseph Music Publishing. She spent years writing for powerhouse publishers Disney, BMG, Sony and legendary producer and guitarist, Dann Huff.
Melissa has released a solo album Lonesome Lullaby and EP Blend which incorporates her country, bluegrass, pop, acoustic and singer/songwriter influences. Currently, she is part of the duo "Kerby and the Roaches", with YouTube sensation and Amazon Bestselling author Erich Andreas/YourGuitarSage.
