Mak CK is an award-winning documentary filmmaker whose films have screened at the world’s largest festivals and on international platforms: Netflix, National Geographic, Discovery, History, Disney, MTV and CNA.
Specialising in social issues and human interest stories, he has interviewed or filmed intimately with thousands of individuals over two decades. They come from vastly diverse backgrounds, from the everyday to the most extreme: former child soldiers, families living with rare and debilitating diseases, leaders of mega churches, performers at a dwarf theme park, international pop stars, deaf musicians, top truffle hunters in Italy, Michelin star chefs in Japan, professional wrestlers in Mongolia, children of exiles in Australia, stigmatised refugees in England, male rape survivors in Mexico, dying AIDS patients in Myanmar, doctors fighting a global epidemic in Brazil, a slum in Bangladesh, the last Maoist village in China, abandoned children at an orphanage in Tanzania, inmates at the largest maximum-security prison in the Philippines…
Besides his work as a documentary filmmaker, Mak has also learnt from countless people whom he met living in five continents and travelling across seven. From former rock star personal assistants and professional poker players, to illegal immigrants and parents struggling to made ends meet.
All of his encounters have shown him the power we can gain by looking simply inwards. By truly recognising and appreciating what we ourselves have overcome and achieved on the journey we call life. This Life Résumé course is conceptualised and distilled from all of his experiences in over 25 years.
