I'm Ruth, and together we'll embark on the life-changing journey of learning how to speak and write Mandarin Chinese.

Born and raised in Harbin, the provincial capital of the Heilongjiang province, my combined ethnic background, higher education, and years of experience will cultivate a fun & engaging learning adventure synonymous with utmost success.

This course is ideal for anyone to learn or enhance their Mandarin Chinese, regardless of age or experience. I will create a customized learning plan in conjunction with the study materials to create a personalized teaching approach suited to your needs, goals, and learning style, all backed by educational science and a high degree of efficacy.

My Background

Growing up in the northernmost province of China, Mandarin Chinese is my first language. My standard Mandarin accent ensures that pronunciation, one of the most critical aspects of learning how to speak Chinese, is cultivated to perfection.

To complement my ethnic background and first-hand experiences shared through this course, I obtained a bachelor's degree in International Communications with a minor in Education at the University of Nottingham, UK. After pursuing a master's degree in Journalism at Syracuse University, New York, a part-time teaching assistant position at the Language Center of Syracuse University inspired my decision to become a full-time teacher.

I have since practiced my teaching techniques at Beijing Language and Culture University, one of China's most renowned universities for language teaching. In doing so, I have gained a plethora of science-backed, efficient teaching methods, the culmination of years of teaching experiences shared through this course.

Since this decision in 2014, I'm proud to have taught over 200 students from over 20 different countries of all ages, 15-50+, to speak and write Mandarin Chinese. From beginners to experts, entrepreneurs to musicians, CEOs to Harvard professors, and nearly everything in between, I'm eager and excited to add you to my list of happy, successful students reaping the rewards of learning how to speak Mandarin Chinese.
