Greetings, learners! My name is Jamal Ahmelich, and I am a registered clinical counsellor and teacher. My background includes a B.Ed. in Education and an M.A in Counselling Psychology. I have experience working with individuals through counselling, teaching, mentoring and clinical work.
My philosophy of therapy is centered around the importance of the client/counsellor relationship in promoting change. As such, I always use a client-centered, strengths-based approach in my sessions. I often utilize cognitive-behavioural therapy and solutions-focused therapy to help individuals achieve their goals. And when it's appropriate, I incorporate Nature-Based therapy into my clients' treatment plans, as I believe in the great power of nature to facilitate healing and growth.
In my free time, I am an avid outdoors person and enjoy kiteboarding, skiing, mountain biking, gardening, hiking, and backpacking. I believe that spending time in nature can be a powerful tool for promoting well-being and personal growth, and I bring this philosophy into my counselling and teaching practice.
