I have been working in the Music Industry for over 20 years. I am a Director of the SGM Music Group Ltd and I have managed Radio 1 playlist artists, negotiated deals with major labels like Sony ATV Publishing and consulted on music for corporate clients like INTU Shopping centres.
In my education work, for the last few years, I was the director of the U.K’s largest free artist development programme funded through the U.K. Education Department (with Patron Robert Plant). This programme offered free recording, rehearsal time and free business guidance at independent studios nationwide to over 10,000 musicians for nearly 20 years. I am also regularly asked to teach freelance music industry masterclasses at Universities like BIMM.
I have a real passion for teaching about the music industry and opening students' eyes to the vast career opportunities available within the industry using the transferable skill sets they already have, I find it rewarding to mentor people into jobs they did not know were available to them!
I have also run my own merchandise company Rock Star Skins since 2006. Providing ‘Custom Drum Heads’ and merchandise for the music industry. Clients include Queen, Stereophonics, and many more high profile acts.
