Professor Hawryszkiewycz's research and teaching has been on ways to use technology in business system design. He has published a large number of papers in this area as well as 7 books and applied it in practice. His experience included research with colleagues at a large number of Universities and research institutions, as well as consultancies to industry. It included database design, project management and system development and more recently in design thinking and ways of applying it in business system design.  In doing so, he has focused on ways to develop collaborative environments needed to create innovative solutions. He is interested in transforming business systems in complex environments and how to develop systems with the capability to respond to unexpected change. He has taught courses in this are for a number of years both in face to face and in remote environments. His focus is on identifying the capabilities business systems required to deal with unexpected change.
