Proficient in scientific research writing, including editing, rewriting, formatting, and proofreading original manuscripts for publication, grant proposals, patent writing, and submission as well as study protocols with scientific and technical precision.
Selected Achievements:
· Engineered proprietary software: SNPClinic v.1.0 leveraged to discover rSNPs in human promoters (specificity= 85%) by integrating a semiautomatic process that analyzes relevant information about human gene regulation from 1000 genomes project, ENCODE, and relevant databases (JASPAR/TRANSFAC, Ensembl).
· Recipient of multiple awards, fellowships, and scholarships: Wellcome Trust (UK, seven scholarships), European Molecular Biology Laboratory (Germany, five scholarships), Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (USA, 10 Global Health Awards), RELAB-UNESCO (Argentina-France, scholarship), Guadalajara University (Mexico, two scholarships + Academic Excellence Award), UNAM-European Community (1 scholarship), IMSS (three-year fellowship + Award to merit in research), CONAHCYT (6 grants, + 15 years of SNI Fellow Excellence Research monthly stipend), EULAC PerMed (Spain-Italy, scholarship), COECYTJAL (2 grants), and German Healthcare Partnership (scholarship).
· First inventor/primary contributor of three granted patents: antimicrobial peptide elicitor (potential first-in-class antiviral and antibacterial drug), an antimicrobial peptide inhibitor (potential first-in-class drug against autoimmune diseases), and a UVA/UVC lamp (for the treatment of skin cancer/melanoma and local infections).
· 16+ years of experience designing, setting up, and certifying (ISO) R&D molecular diagnostics and genetic markers laboratories in industrial and academic settings.
· 8+ years of experience designing, setting up, and certifying (different ISO Norms) the Personalized Medicine National Laboratory LAMPER (Mexico) including core computational facilities for R&D with capabilities to serve both industrial and academic needs.
