A former classroom teacher of 20 years, Celeste has worked with children of all backgrounds from preschool through 5th grade. She was often lauded for her classroom management and calm demeanor amid what appeared to outside eyes as chaos and co-led a professional development on the subject.
In 2020, Celeste decided to leave the classroom and began teaching preschool-First Grade children online.
Celeste has so many experiences and information that she would like to impart to new preschool teachers who are beginning their careers in the classrooms. “A lot of teaching is on-the-job training,” she says,” I want to help new preschool teachers shorten that training period and navigate their first few years in the classroom successfully.”
She wants new preschool teachers to believe that they are more resourceful than they think, and if the teachers make mistakes because mistakes will happen, they will give themselves the grace to try again.
She wants them to feel and be okay with not knowing it all but has the willingness to learn, try, and grow, which will take them further than they have ever dreamt. They will not shrink themselves because they are scared to shine. They will be the light that generates the warmth and nurturing embrace each child that steps into their class will need.
Celeste loves in no particular order, journals, the beach, horror movies, and 90’s R&B and hip-hop.
