'Professor and System Architect'
About me
Professor Bedir Tekinerdogan is a computer scientist with over 30 years of experience in software/systems engineering and information technology. He earned both his MSc degree and a PhD degree in Computer Science from the University of Twente, The Netherlands.
He was a faculty member at the University of Twente from 2003 to 2008 before joining Bilkent University, where he worked until 2015. At Bilkent University, he founded and led the Bilkent Software Engineering Group to promote software engineering research and education in Turkey. He is currently a full professor and chair of the Information Technology group at Wageningen University.
Recognized among Stanford University’s World's Top 2% Scientists, , he ranks in both the career-long and annual lists, placing in the top 0.15% globally in 2024. According to ScholarGPS, he is among the top 0.05% of 30 million scholars worldwide, based on the impact and quality of his scholarly contributions over the past five years. He has also been named the top-ranked computer science scholar in The Netherlands in the Top Scholars by Country category, and the top-ranked scholar at Wageningen University & Research for the last five years, according to the Top Scholars by Institution rankings.
He wrote over 500 scientific articles and edited 12 books. As a principal researcher and lead architect, he contributed to numerous projects with major software firms across diverse fields like consumer electronics, automotive, critical infrastructures, cyber-physical systems, defense systems, precision farming, and energy systems. His interdisciplinary approach excels in software/systems architecting, product line engineering, model-based systems engineering, data science, and AI.
Beyond his research, he is a dedicated educator, having designed and delivered over 20 academic courses and provided software/systems engineering training to more than 50 companies worldwide. He has graduated more than 100 MSc students and supervised more than 40 PhD students. He is a regular reviewer for more than 20 international journals and has reviewed more than 100 national and international projects. Prof. Tekinerdogan is also an active participant in scientific conferences and has organized more than 50 conferences/workshops on software engineering topics. He can communicate in English, Dutch, Turkish, French, German, and Spanish.
