Dr. B. Balakiruthiga has a distinguished academic career, beginning as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Kalasalingam Academy of Research and Education (KARE), Virudhunagar, Tamil Nadu, where she served from July 2011 to October 2022. Since November 2022, she has been contributing her expertise as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Networking and Communications within the School of Computing, Faculty of Engineering and Technology at SRM Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kattankulathur,Tamilnadu. She earned her Doctor of Philosophy with a dissertation titled “Design of Traffic Optimization Schemes for Software Defined Data Center” under the guidance of Dr. P. Deepalakshmi, who is the Dean of the School of Computing and the Director of Accreditation and Ranking at KARE. Dr. Balakiruthiga is also an active reviewer for several prestigious journals, reflecting her deep engagement with the academic community. With 13 years of teaching experience, she has significantly impacted both her students and her field. Her academic journey began with a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science and Engineering from Maharaja Engineering College, affiliated with Anna University, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, in 2009. She then completed her Master of Technology in Network Engineering from KARE in 2011.

Dr. Balakiruthiga’s research interests are broad and include Networks, Distributed Computing, Software-Defined Networks, Network Routing and Traffic Management, Distributed Intelligence, and IoT-based AI applications. Currently, she is guiding several student projects in cutting-edge areas such as federated learning for IoT applications, Digital Twin applications in 5G and 6G, and Quality of Service Optimization in data centre networks.
