What my aim with this short course is to give you a grassroots understanding of Bitcoin, and make sure you get enough of an understanding to get started with this revolutionary cryptocurrency. Get ready, because in just a moment I’m going to give you an over to Bitcoin. So what it is, and how it really works for us users. So you ready?
Now bitcoin is a unique type of crypto currency; it has no physical properties and is stored electronically. It’s the world’s first real working example of a cryptocurrency – one that can be traded and used in digital transactions.
In this lecture I want to give you an insight, well a history lesson as to how Bitcoin has evolved to date, just so you’re aware I’ll be highlighting one key thing from each year up until now as there’s so much in Bitcoins history. Now, by understanding it’s journey it’ll really give you a deeper understanding as to how Bitcoin has become the powerhouse of a cryptocurrency it is today.
In this lecture I want to explain the blockchain to you, as the blockchain is the complete underpinning of Bitcoin. Now what you see in front of you is the blockchain website, by the way this is also a wallet but more on that later, but as you can see all these are the transactions that are being processed right now by the blockchain.
Now the blockchain if you weren’t aware as a permanent database of bitcoin transactions across the globe.
So for this lecture I’m just going to give you a run through of all the Bitcoin wallets available to date, well the best ones on the market. To do this I’m enlisting the help of a colleague of mine, and his website 99 Bitcoins where he has in fact organised very clearly, the benefits and drawbacks of each wallet. Now all Bitcoin wallets have their range of pro’s and con’s, I personally use them for a range of different reasons. Whether it’s for day to day transactions, storing them for investment, or for frequent trading. They all serve different purposes for me.
