Section 1: Welcome to this course

Facebook Graph Search is essential to finding the top targets for your page. You need access to this powerful interface before we can get started.

If you don't get it instantly, change your language to English (US). Instructions attached.

Section 2: Facebook Graph Search

This is where you have to get a little creative. Using normal English, ask Facebook a question and watch the list to show you what you can achieve.


To search with a Facebook name (handle), you'll need to go to http://graph.facebook.com/(paste.handle.here)

For example to find Mark Zuckerberg's Userid go to, http://graph.facebook.com/zuck

Section 3: Facebook Ad Platform

For this lecture, you'll need to go to http://www.facebook.com/ads/manage and click on Audience. Your audience will be processed by Facebook and should be ready within 30 minutes.


If will need to go to http://www.facebook.com/ads/create or if you are still in Audience's there is a Create Ad button next to each audience. But you can have more than one audience for your Ad.

Section 4: Advanced Targeting

Don't forget to watch the suggestions in the list as you type, it might save you some time.


To access Lookalike Audience, you'll need to use the Chrome browser and go to http://www.facebook.com/powereditor

Click download before you start to make sure you're synced.

Section 5: The Results

In summary what we've covered:

- you should now have access to the Facebook Graph search and be able to find pages, people, photos etc

- you should be able to extract a person's Userid and save them into a file

- you should be able to create a Custom Audience with your list, and further, use Facebook to create a Lookalike Audience from that list

- you should be able to create an Ad for page likes from your Lookalike Audience

- you should be seeing some large increases in your analytics (insights)

Section 6: Updates

If you have 150 or more likes on your page, Facebook's new Page Lookalike Audience function is probably the most important thing they've done this year to help you help yourself.

If you want to, Facebook can create a list of 130,000 people who look like your current fans to with 1% similarity. If you were only going to spend $1 a day on advertising, this is a must. If you don't know much about FB ads, this is the simplest thing you can do with the most effect. I've been waiting and waiting for them to release it, and it's finally here.

If your likes are based on people who aren't real fans, then you're hurting your list, so don't buy fans, or promote to people who are never going to be real fans. In fact, start deleting your mum and siblings, and friends who just helped you out.

This lecture also contains information about lookalike audiences based on Website Custom Audience plus Conversion Tracking Lookalike audiences which will improve your return on investment (ROI) more than anything you can be doing right now.
