Award Winning Curriculum Developer and University Lecturer
My name is Yana Spasova or as my student like to call me - Yana. I am originally from Bulgaria but I lived most of my life abroad. When I was a child I lived in Germany, in my 20s I lived in the United States and in my 30s I lived in China. Now in my 40s I am back in Europe.
My life journey has brought me to 3 continents and helped me learn 5 languages. Learning and teaching languages is something I will always enjoy!
While living in the US I earned a four year Master's degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine. I am a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner. Nearly 1/3 of my classes were science and Western Medicine related. Later when I moved to China I used this knowledge to teach Medical Terminology and Medical English at Shenzhen university. There I created a teaching program based on my experience as a medical practitioner and put together a 200 page Medical English textbook, which Shenzhen university published, and later republished. For my work as curriculum developer and university lecturer I was granted an Honorary Award by the Medical department of Shenzhen university.
During my stay in China I was also appointed Visiting Professor of Health and Family Planning at the Continuing Education Centre of Shenzhen Municipality. There I thought Medical English and Medical Terminology to Western medicine doctors and prepared them for specialisation abroad.
My online classes are all based on my experiences as a medical practitioner, university lecturer, course designer and curriculum developer. If you want to know more about my professional life and education please visit my LinkedIn page.
