Viani is currently a (i) senior research fellow at the University of Edinburgh and (ii) consultant in statistical methods, machine learning, and risk quantification.
He has a passion for teaching and training statisticians and data scientists, as well as extensive experience leading large projects in data science.
Prior to his current roles, he worked as
- Lead statistician & Data Scientist in the insurance and financial industry in the UK.
- Postdoctoral researcher in Statistics at the University of Oxford.
- High school teacher.
Viani holds a BSc, MSc, and PhD in statistical methods from Heriot-Watt University in the UK.
He has extensive peer-reviewed publications and patents in many fields including data science, insurance, finance, demography and operational research.
