1. Key Qualifications/Expertise:

I am a qualified Intelligence Analysis Practitioner and Consultant Trainer. I have been involved with Intelligence Gathering and Intelligence Training for over 20 years. I am the founder and Managing Director of Intelligence Analysis Training Limited.

I previously held the position as Detective Investigator and Crime Trainer with West Yorkshire Police, UK. I served from 1976 until my retirement in September 2005.

During my service, I attended and successfully completed courses in Anacapa, Intelligence Analysis, Serious & Serial Offenders, Intelligence Development, HOLMES Exhibits, Disclosure Officer, P.I.M.S computerised CHIS handling and CHIS handling. I am practiced in these disciplines.

While with West Yorkshire Police I assisted with the implementation of Management of Police Information (MOPI) training with my force as part of the working party.

I have delivered training workshops to other UK Government agencies and participated in the review of the Serious Sexual Offences Intelligence Unit of a major UK police force, co-authoring a subsequent report.

2. Investigation Expertise:

As the Telecoms Officer I was the primary liaison with the relevant UK Communications companies before police forces implemented Single Points of Contact (SPOC’s). I requested relevant data and instructed the companies on the type, content and statements required.

When SPOC’s were introduced to my force I worked closely with them as procedures were brought into place, I informed them of the information that was available, the analysis required and how it could be used within investigations. I also advised how the data should be evidenced in doing this I worked closely with the Crown Prosecution Service and Queens Counsel to employ the best way to present communications data to the courts.

My role as part of the investigation teams included, Surveillance, Covert Human Intelligence Source handling, Crime Investigation, Exhibits Handling, Disclosure Officer, HOLMES Receiver and Telecommunications Officer, sometimes performing dual roles.

I am a competent user of the Microsoft suite of Office software, email and internet research tools.

During my Police service, I received many Commendations from the Chief Constable and Criminal Crown Court; I also received Certificates of Merit for professionalism, dedication and diligence whilst working as a Detective engaged on major enquiries and communications data.
