Sarah Ameeyo graduated in Accounting from Los Angeles, but her heart led her elsewhere. A year later, she followed her passion for art and enrolled in a Master's program in Art, specializing in children's book illustration—a journey that shaped her whimsical and soft style. After returning to her home country, Indonesia, she transitioned from freelancing to founding her own illustration studio, Big Bear and Bird.
Big Bear and Bird celebrates delightful characters like Bear, Bird, and their friends, with a vision to spread positivity through art on social media and in books. Sarah’s heartwarming illustrations, featuring adorable characters, have become her signature style and have been transformed into merchandise, custom gifts, and publications. She has collaborated with numerous brands to bring her charming characters to life.
With over 10 years of experience, Sarah is passionate about sharing her knowledge to help others create and paint cute characters—not just to admire but to learn from. Having hosted many offline workshops, she now aims to reach a wider audience through online classes, so more people can experience the joy of creating adorable illustrations in watercolor and other mediums.
Sarah loves painting in a room filled with sunlight, accompanied by her coffee and her corgi. Her mission is simple yet heartfelt: to teach fun, approachable ways to draw and paint, spreading joy through the art of creating adorable illustrations.
