Gregory Martin Paterson
Academic Communication Trainer
About me
I have almost forty years' teaching experience, having worked in Greece, Albania, Cyprus, Italy, England, Wales, and my current home, Scotland, as well as online. In the 1990s, I created the English for Academic Purposes programme at the newly founded University of Cyprus, where I developed my innovative, skills-based approach. I then produced one of the first online courses in academic writing skills, winning the Education Planet Top Site award in 1999. I have taught at the universities of Parma and Bari in Italy, and Central Lancashire, Cumbria and Lancaster in England; and worked as a communication trainer with numerous companies, including Barclays, Dallara, GEA, Helsinki Energy, ADNOC, Gore-Tex and Laterlite, and with Swedish officers commanding the UN operations in Bosnia. I have a doctorate from the University of York, and an MA from UEA. My main academic interest is cinema: I am writing an extensive study of Otto Preminger's films.
