I wrote Singapore's first AI risk management guidelines for the financial sector. I also started my PhD in AI at 42, with zero background in computer science - so I know what it is like to learn this from scratch, and how much of the "hard" part is really just jargon in the way.

That is what my courses are for: AI, taught plainly. No hype, no buzzwords, and a focus on the parts of AI that do not expire the moment a new model comes out - the ideas, the mental models, and the judgement that still hold when the tools change.

I led AI risk supervision at the Monetary Authority of Singapore, where I wrote those guidelines, and before that I was division head for investment risk, overseeing the risk management of Singapore's foreign reserves. Today I run an independent practice, Quaintitative, and teach regulators, banks, and professionals - including as a module lead for the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance's AI programme for global regulators. I hold a PhD in Computer Science, with research published at venues including ACL and ACM, and I am a LinkedIn Top Voice in AI governance.
