I developed Singapore's AI Risk Management Guidelines for the financial sector.
As AI Supervision Lead at the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), I created the regulatory framework that governs how financial institutions manage AI risk. I also led the 2024 thematic review that produced MAS' Information Paper on AI Model Risk Management. I was also part of Singapore's national working group developing the accreditation programme for ISO 42001: AI Management System.
Before AI supervision, I was Head of Investment Risk Management at MAS, overseeing risk for Singapore's foreign reserves, and spent years on Basel II/III regulatory frameworks and model risk audits.
I hold a PhD in Computer Science (AI) from Singapore Management University, with research published at ACL and ACM Transactions on the Web (Honorable Mention, ACM IUI 2022).
I've taught AI, machine learning, and data science at NUS, SMU, Nanyang Polytechnic, and currently develop AI risk management materials for the Toronto Centre.
Certifications: ISO/IEC 42001 Lead Auditor, Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect, AWS Data Analytics Specialty, ACLP.
I also illustrate professionally for Wallpaper, Tatler, and others, and bring a human-centered lens to technical work.
